Abstract:Under the context of economic globalization,the connection between language and economics becomes more and more inseparable.Since the 1970s,substantial theoretical and empirical studies on the relationship between language and economy have been carried out.More recently,as economics of language has been expanding its research area continuously,there are some new trends of the field,such as language and immigration,language and trade and the textual analysis of finance,etc.This paper gives a comprehensive survey on the latest developments on the study on the economics of language in the west and presents an assessment on the study features and relevant policy implication.
