Academic Norms and Construction of “Chinese Discourse” in the Research of Humanities and Social Sciences
Zhang Xingjiu (Wuhan University)
Abstract The key to constructing “Chinese Discourse” in the study of humanities and social sciences is that the researchers can raise good questions and “true problems”, introduce and apply methods creatively, adhere to the principle of seeking truth from facts in the process of study and pro-duce results which have academic reputation and influence. “True problems” should be questionable, research-worthy and necessary, and they have research potential because of the general implication in research methods and scope. In the context of clarifying the meaning, the level of the method, and the internal relations between the problems and methods, it is necessary to select the appropriate combination of methods and through the “methods introduction” and “activation”, to form a unique theoretical position and framework. The value commitment and the objective norms of seeking truth from facts are one on both sides in academic research, because that they are not only not contradictory, but also they are linked and complement each other.
